CTT has played a crucial role in supporting local communities through volunteering. CTT employees are deeply involved in volunteering activities, investing their time and resources to improve the quality of life for people and the environment across the country.
Through volunteer programmes such as beach/urban waste clean-ups, invasive species removal, blood donation, tree planting, mentoring and tutoring programmes, and others, CTT has shown a solid commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Volunteering at CTT not only strengthens ties with its surrounding community, but also contributes to building a more inclusive and supportive society, where the values of mutual aid and active citizenship are promoted and celebrated.
CTT's volunteering policy has a long tradition and, in 2022, it was also viewed strategically by the company's leadership, with the definition of a target, to be reached by 2025, of 3 days of volunteering made available for each employee.
To achieve this, we have relied on numerous partners:
-
EPIS – Empresários para a Inclusão
CTT's historic collaboration with EPIS has taken place since 2014 and is marked by a strong purpose of promoting social inclusion and academic success for young people at risk. The partnership has focussed on mentoring and academic support through tutoring. The role of mentoring is to provide close support to students, helping them to build a positive life project. Tutoring offers personalised educational support, contributing to students' academic success.
-
Animais de Rua
The Associação Animais de Rua helps many thousands of animals on the streets, sterilising them so they don't reproduce, treating them when they are sick and feeding them. We promote peaceful coexistence between animals and people, with respect for animal welfare and public health. Our partnership focuses on supporting the cat sterilisation programme, through which our employees help capture and transport animals to veterinary centres.
-
Fundação Portuguesa de Cardiologia
The Foundation's mission is to promote the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases and strokes at all ages. CTT volunteers have dedicated their support to the Foundation's national events, most of which are aimed at raising awareness among the national population of the importance of monitoring health parameters that can influence the onset of cardiovascular disease.
-
QUERCUS
Our prestigious partnership with Quercus through the One Tree for the Forest campaign has been running for more than 10 years. This campaign is organised every year and culminates in the planting of trees, in which we always have the support and cooperation of our employees. But our partnership is not limited to this campaign. Over the years, our employees have had various opportunities to get to know and help maintain the Quercus Wild Animal Recovery Centres
-
Liga para a Proteção da Natureza
CTT has maintained a significant partnership with the League for the Protection of Nature (LPN), demonstrating a solid commitment to environmental preservation and biodiversity. Some notable actions in this collaboration include beach clean-ups and urban clean-ups. Taking part in these types of actions is extremely important for preserving the environment, protecting marine life, improving quality of life and involving employees in promoting healthy and sustainable environments.
-
IPST – Instituto Português do Sangue e da Transplantação
The partnership with the IPST aims to promote blood donation, playing a crucial role in guaranteeing health supplies, saving lives and strengthening solidarity in the community. This partnership is greatly cherished by our employees who have the opportunity to contribute to this cause three times a year, for some without having to leave their workplace.
-
Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro
The partnership with the Portuguese League Against Cancer in the annual petition is only possible with the generosity and dedication of our employees who participate in both the collection and the donation to support this noble and supportive cause that aims to help cancer patients and their families, as well as promoting cancer prevention and screening.
-
Comunidade Vida e Paz
The Association's mission is to meet and welcome people who are homeless or socially vulnerable, helping them to recover their dignity and (re)build their life project through integrated prevention, rehabilitation and reintegration. Our partnership with the Life and Peace Community is to help prepare suppers for homeless people and to take part in fortnightly street walks.
-
ICNF – Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e das Florestas
The ICNF is an organisation dedicated to nature conservation and natural heritage management in Portugal. Our partnership with the ICNF involves our employees taking part in environmental preservation actions, such as clearing invasive species, in places like the Costa de Caparica Fossil Cliff Protected Landscape and the Arrábida Natural Park, contributing to sustainability and biodiversity.
-
União Zoófila
Our partnership with União Zoófila aims to help fulfil one of its permanent needs, volunteering at its shelter. Chores such as cleaning the animals' boxes, brushing and pampering them, helping to collect and store pet food are some of the tasks our volunteers help with. União Zoófila is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the protection of abandoned and abused domestic animals.
